Biographical Information for Les Lofquist
Les was born into a stable, loving, well disciplined family with seven children. His mother and father were always supportive and provided great wisdom in many ways. His parents and both sets of grandparents were successful in business and marriage. But it was not a church going family and so Les looked to other activities for fulfillment.
During high school in Winona, Minnesota Les came in contact with some vibrant Christians who shared with him the message from the Bible about God's good news of salvation. But Les resisted them and mocked their message. Then the month after high school graduation, he began reading the gift New Testament that his Christian friends had given him and his deep antagonism toward God ceased. It was followed by curiosity, then amazement, then came the crisis. Would he believe?
It was two agonizing months of struggle for Les with unbelief and sin until he finally trusted Christ as his Savior on October 1, 1972. Three months later he enrolled at Grand Rapids (MI)
Bible and Music, beginning his life-long quest to grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. At GRSBM Les sensed the call of God into ministry. He desired to serve where no one else wanted to go and thought he would end up ministering in the Middle East among the Muslims or out west among the Mormons.
After his education (Diploma in Missions from GRSBM in 1976, B.A. from
College in 1979, and M.Div. from Grace Theological Seminary in 1982) he served among the Mormons in a church planting ministry in
Ogden, Utah for ten years. Then he served for nearly two years as
College professor at GRSBM. He was called as Senior Pastor of
Church in Winona Lake, IN (where he had served previously as Youth pastor during college and seminary). While at PVBC he also taught on the part-time faculty of Grace Theological Seminary. He received the Doctor of Divinity degree in 2005 from
College and Theological Seminary of Kansas City, Missouri.
In 1999 he was called to serve as IFCA International Executive Director in
Grand Rapids, MI. He oversees the Fellowship which includes over 2000 churches and pastors.
During his ministry he has preached extensively in churches and Pastors Conferences and lectured at Bible Institutes, Bible Colleges, Seminaries all throughout the United States and in the following countries: Israel, Ukraine, Russia, Belarus, Guyana, Japan, Korea, Honduras, India, Germany, Mexico, Democratic Republic of Congo, Albania, Romania, Canada, France, and Sweden. He serves on the Boards of Biblical Ministries Worldwide and
College and advises Spanish World Ministry and Congo International Ministries.
He and his wife Miriam were married in June, 1976 and now live in Byron Center, MI. They have five children (three of whom are married) and two grandsons.
