This seminar will be led by a Bible College President with ten years of experience on the mission field who will share the Biblical basis for our life and our purpose in the world. All too many believers in our churches settle for less, including pastors and pastors' wives. Come for a Biblical challenge that will help you in your ministry when you get back home.
There are great joys and delights in serving the Lord as a vocational minister. But ministry life, like real life, is filled with days that are hard and challenging. There are many causes of those difficult times. They usually find their origin in the very ones we are to lovingly tend as the Lord Jesus' under shepherds. The goal of this seminar is to practically and biblically provide some guidelines for how to deal with those inevitable bumpy times, from God's Word and from 42 years of pastoral experience.
The Magnificent 7: Preaching and Teaching Formats for All Occasions
The Magnificent Seven individually were unspectacular, but together they changed lives. The villagers the Seven defended were underdeveloped and couldn't stand on their own. Together, the Seven helped the villagers become the best they could be. This presentation examines a parallel in Biblical communication. There are seven approaches to communicating Biblical truth. Used together these seven can help us be deliberate and effective in communicating the Bible for transformational learning.
Have We Left Them Out? Ministry to/with Single Business Women
7/18/2016Connie Arnett, Miriam Lofquist
What about the single business women in our churches? They don’t fit into the “Mom” group or the “Married” group or even the college single group. We will have a discussion as to how we can help these women be included, used and grow in our church body.
Jesus' example of urgent and efficient evangelism in the beginning of Luke Chapter 10 was directly linked to the imminence of the Cross. We will examine our Savior's heightened focus on reaching the lost while considering how we must emulate His intensity in our present context. The imminence of His return MUST result in urgent and efficient evangelism by all of His redeemed.
Dan is Executive Director of UIM International and Chairman of the IFCA Conciliation Committee. He will present the attitudes and steps to follow in seeking biblical conciliation when relationships in ministry are near (or exceed) the breaking point.
Preparing the Next Generation to Minister to an Increasingly Hostile World
There are qualities and tendencies in the next generation of servants to the church that seem to make them ill-prepared for what is ahead for them. Perhaps some of these qualities can become strengths. This session will look at elements on which to focus as we help prepare them to replace us.
Whether you work with elders, deacons, or a council, church leadership groups (boards) that work well have common characteristics, as do those that do not work well. This seminar will explore these features and suggest ways to make boards more effective.
Historically, the task of the pastor has been to instruct his flock in theology, which has been defined as, “The knowledge of how to live in the presence of God.” The goal of theology is not simply to fill heads with knowledge, but to change lives. Unfortunately, the evangelical church is suffering the fallout of several generations of anemic theological diet. If things are to change it is the local pastor who must lead the charge.
Beyond polity, do the Scriptures help us understand the kind of decisions pastor)(s), deacon(s), church member(s) or congregations should have while "doing church?" Are there some helpful hints on how to make wise decisions in the "ebb and flow" of ministry? What are the extremes we should avoid in decision making? Healthy decision making joins servant leadership with a right view of the body of Christ.
Ever wonder about what to do when your local church doesn't measure up? This discussion time could be just for you! Be prepared to ask and help answer questions about how to get from where you are to where you always wanted to be. Don't be discouraged - be helped!
I Finally Wanted What I Got: Learning Contentment in a Discontent World
It’s tough to be content when the media flood us with the latest fashions, cars, homes, and more. Contentment may seem even more elusive when ministry seems fruitless and people let us down. Join us as we meet these challenges head on!
Your church supports missionaries financially but how long has it been since someone from your congregation left for the mission field? Sending your own is similar to the difference between having your own children and supporting an orphanage. Both are needed but there is a special thrill of having your own. This workshop will help you think through some practical steps to launch full time workers from your church.
In correcting the Corinthian church for its extremes, the Apostle Paul taught about the need for the edifying spiritual gifts to cause growth in the church of God. How can the church faithfully encourage biblical thinking about the Word of God? How does a sermon practically move from motivation to spiritual change?
Scripture uniquely lays out God's Prophetic Calendar in the past two Jewish Temples, the current spiritual temple of the church age, the prophetic physical third temple during the Tribulation, and the fourth temple during the Millennium. The material in this seminar will provide an exciting tool to understanding and teaching the pre-tribulation rapture and the pre-millennial return of the Lord Jesus Christ. Join us for a virtual tour of the Temple Mount in Jerusalem and experience the past, present and the prophetic timeline in God's Word. For those who enjoy prophecy, this session is a must attend!
This is our Father’s world, is it not? He who created all things according to His will also created the institution of civil government. In this seminar we will explore the biblical purpose of government, its role in a fallen world, and understand how government is accountable to the God who established it.
