Have you ever heard Christians say things like, “God called me to this job” or “God called me to pay it forward?” Or what about, “God is calling me to be a missionary to ______”?

Is God “calling” you to be a missionary? How can you know? Simple. Just find an old Magic 8 Ball and give it a shake to find your answer. Kidding! Seriously, please don’t do that.

The church and our mission will thrive as we understand how God works in and among us and use that knowledge to equip all body parts.

It seems to me that our ultimate mission is involvement in the harvest, and we must always be alert to ways to reach our culture without gimmicks, tricks, and ploys.

The blueprint for discipleship really is that simple. Learn from Jesus. Tell others. And love them in both word and deed. That is a blueprint worth following.

The Lord experienced the rejection of those He ministered among, finding the ultimate expression of that rejection at the cross.
